Project Request:

To design a new family dental practice facility.

Project Solution:

To minimize costs and meet an aggressive schedule, the project was run as a modified design/build. The selected local contractor, Berry Builders, had worked with HHA previously. Design began in mid-October with the intent to have the shell completed before winter weather set in so the interior fit-up could be done over the winter and have the facility opened in the spring. With only four weeks to prepare documents for a building permit, the team worked closely with the owner and contractor as well as a dental equipment supplier to design the ideal layout and exterior shell to fit the pre-determined budget and the site constraints. The owner’s wanted the building to have a residential scale but also to be notable and unique. This resulted in a design with large windows and extensive accent colored trim. A rustic stone and timber frame entry continues the trim line and forms a clear and welcoming entrance. The design includes eight operatories, a 24-seat waiting room with vaulted ceiling, X-Ray area, laboratory, sterilization area, offices and support spaces.
