Project Request:

To create a patient-centered, non-clinical healing environment that aims to reduce the stresses of treatment on patients and families.

Project Solution:

The new Cancer Treatment Center at St. Mary’s Hospital was designed around input from patients and staff. The extensive renovation prioritized areas with direct patient occupancy. It includes a warm, inviting reception area; awaiting room with a coffee bar, fireplace, large comfortable lounge chairs, and pendant light fixtures; a children’s corner; and separate areas to read, watch TV and play games. A spacious infusion area has views to the outside, room for family and friends, patient-controlled lighting, accessible outlets, writing surfaces and places to store personal belongings. The library includes audio books, informational journals, and computer access. Fashion boutique for wigs and other accessories and a spa-like wellness room for massage therapy completes the amenities.
